Our Mission

At the Mystic Tenant Association (MTA), our mission is to empower and uplift the residents of the Mystic View and Mystic River developments within the Somerville Housing Authority. As a volunteer-led organization, we work to build a stronger, more connected community by advocating for tenant rights, organizing inclusive programs, and creating spaces where neighbors can support one another.

What We Offer

• Resident Advocacy:
  We serve as the voice of Mystic residents — bringing community concerns, needs, and ideas directly to the Somerville Housing Authority (SHA) and other city partners.

• Community Meetings:
  We host at minimum 4 monthly meetings yearly to share updates, discuss changes, and give residents a space to speak up and stay informed.

• Events & Programs:
  From family-friendly celebrations to educational workshops, resource fairs, and volunteer initiatives, we create opportunities for neighbors to connect and grow together.

• Resource Connections:
  We help residents connect with local services, programs, and organizations that support housing stability, food access, youth opportunities, and more.

• Community Projects:
  The MTA works on improving shared spaces, supporting beautification efforts, and organizing donation drives like our back to school backpack give away, free winter jacket event and our Mystic Closet.

• Partnership Building:
  We collaborate with local nonprofits, city departments, and businesses to bring more opportunities and resources to the Mystic community.
